‘Renegades’ Trailer: J.K. Simmons Gets Tied up in Nazi Gold Heist

A team of Navy SEALs discover an underwater treasure in a Bosnian lake.

From the creators of “Taken,” and “The Equalizer” comes “Renegades,” story about a team of Navy SEALs on assignment who make a grand discovery. Directed by Steven Quale and written by Luc Besson and Richard Wenk, EuropaCorp has released a new trailer for the action-packed film, which you can check out below.

Starring J.K. Simmons and Sullivan Stapleton, the story is set in 1995 Sarajevo and follows a group of Navy SEALS who, in order to help the locals, plan to steal a long-lost collection of Nazi-gold that they found at the bottom of a Bosnian lake. Sylvia Hoeks, Ewen Bremner, Diarmaid Murtagh and Charlie Bewley co-star.

The new sneak peek features the crew executing their plan, then having headhunters actively searching to kill them. Explosions, fights and big action-sequences entail.

Director Quale’s previous credits include “Final Destination 5” and “Into the Storm.” Besson is known for writing the “Taken” films, “Lucy,” “The Fifth Element” and the upcoming sci-fi feature “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” Wenk’s wrote the screenplays for “The Magnificent Seven,”  “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” and is working on “The Equalizer 2.”

Last year Simmons won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Whiplash.” He was last seen in “The Accountant” and will next appear in “La La Land,” out December 16, and as Commissioner Gordon in “Justice League.” Stapleton is best known for his role in the series “Blindspot,” “300: Rise of an Empire” and “Strike Back.”

“Renegades” is set to be released on February 3, 2017.
