Lev Grossman’s “The Magicians” trilogy of fantasy novels has received warm reviews, sold many copies and, as of last year, made its way to television. Season two of the Syfy drama is set to premiere early next year, and the network has just released a new preview. Watch it below.

Like a stateside “Harry Potter” for 20-somethings, “The Magician” follows grad student Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) as he enrolls in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy and learns that there are dark forces in league against him and all other upstanding magical citizens. This preview for the second season combines new footage with behind-the-scenes interviews from the main cast.

Stella Maeve (“Chicago P.D.”), Hale Appleman (“Teeth”), Arjun Gupta (“Nurse Jackie”) and Summer Bishil (“Towelhead”) all co-star in the hourlong drama, which first premiered in December of last year. Season two of “The Magicians,” which will likewise consist of 13 episodes, begins on January 25, 2017.
