A lot of questions have been raised since Tuesday, November 8: How were the polls so wrong? Why do we still depend on the electoral college in the 21st century? Did “The Shining” predict Donald Trump’s ascent to the presidency? (Wait, what?) Stanley Kubrick’s benchmark horror film has long been the subject of conspiracy theorizing, even inspiring the documentary “Room 237.” This latest might be the strangest yet, however. Watch a video on it below.
Though more tongue-in-cheek than the interpretations offered in Rodney Ascher’s documentary, this latest theory isn’t altogether less plausible than the idea that Kubrick faked the moon landing and used “The Shining” to both confess and absolve himself of his sins. Take, for instance, the selfie Mike Pence took this week to the famous “you’ve always been the caretaker” photo of Jack Nicholson that closes the film.

Rather than a caption about the July 4th Ball, this one has a quote from Pence arguing against the effectiveness of condoms. The video ends, appropriately enough, with a call for viewers to donate to Planned Parenthood — something tens of thousands have already done in Pence’s name.
