The DC Comics movie universe truly needs a superhero to save it right now. After the one-two critical beating of “Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and “Suicide Squad,” plus recent news that Rick Famuyiwa is leaving “The Flash” over creative differences with the studio, Warner Brothers is pretty much on their last breath in the eyes of many. The future is already set with movies like “Justice League” already in pre-production, but that doesn’t mean people are actually excited about it. Enter “Wonder Woman,” the Amazonian warrior princess who is Warner Bros’ last hope.

Fans and critics went crazy for the movie’s first trailer when it premiered at Comic-Con and showed off some seriously badass action and camerawork, and now an official trailer has been released to rev up anticipation even further. Gal Gadot reprises her role as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in this origin story that finds our hero leaving her homeland of Themyscira to follow her heart and fight in World War I. Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Neilson and Lucy Davis co-star.
While the cast is solid across the board, the real star looks to be Patty Jenkins. Best known for her Oscar winner “Monster” back in 2003, Jenkins has been trying to prove her action skills behind the camera for nearly a decade, getting close to directing “Thor 2” before dropping out over creative differences. Her virtuoso action set pieces look truly thrilling, and it seems like “Wonder Woman” might have enough energy to awaken this troubled movie universe.
