“A Cure for Wellness” is among the stranger-looking films coming out next year, and unless you were at Butt-Numb-a-Thon in Austin over the weekend you probably know little about what it actually entails. That’s changed somewhat with the release of a short, just-released international trailer, which offers a glimpse of what’s to come in Gore Verbinski’s curio starring Dane DeHaan. Watch it below.
The movie tells of a wellness spa in the Swiss Alps offering a “cure for wellness,” with DeHaan playing a young executive sent to rescue his CEO from said treatment center. The trailer provides little way in the plot details but plenty of striking images: a woman (Mia Goth) in a stainless steel bathtub overflowing with snakes, someone wearing a deer mask in a shallow indoor pool, a car accident and a blazing conflagration.
Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, Adrian Schiller and Carl Lumbly all co-star in the film, Verbinski’s first since “The Lone Ranger.” “A Cure for Wellness” is due in theaters on February 17, 2017.
