Additional Comments: 2016 was a year of exceptional talent if you knew where to look — I don’t consider any one film on my Top 10 to be substantially better than any other. It was also, thankfully, a year where we started to see some opening of the talent gates to a wide variety of creators and performers, which accounts for just how many inventive stories came into the world this year. It’s good to maintain our faith in the necessity of the arts in such uncertain times.
