A new poster has dropped for “Dunkirk,” director Christopher Nolan‘s follow up to “Interstellar” and one of the most anticipated movies of 2017. The poster, via the Filmstage, shows a solider from behind, looking on at a beach spewing the flames of war.
Filming began in Dunkirk, France for the World War II drama this spring, and a new trailer is expected soon. Earlier images of the production hinted at the gritty and authentic look of the film, which Nolan also wrote. Here’s what Warner Bros. had to say about the production in a previous press release:
“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.
Dunkirk stars Nolan regulars Tom Hardy (Inception) and Cillian Murphy (The Dark Knight Rises), Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies), Kenneth Branagh (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit), One Direction singer Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, Jack Lowden, James D’Arcy, Barry Keoghan, Tom Glynn-Carney and newcomer Fionn Whitehead. Nolan will be producing alongside Emma Thomas as well. The film will be shot on both IMAX 65mm and 65mm large-formats and will be released on July 21st, 2017.
