Now that he’s delved into the realms of superheroes and sci-fi, Christopher Nolan has turned his attention, like so many ambitious directors before him, to World War II. The “Dark Knight,” “Inception” and “Interstellar” director’s latest was shot on location in France on IMAX 65mm and, as evidenced by its first trailer, looks visually arresting. Watch the trailer below.
Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy and Harry Styles star in the film, which Nolan wrote on his lonesome — a break from his recent tradition of co-writing projects with his brother Jonathan. Hoyte van Hoytema, who also shot “Interstellar,” was the director of photography.
“Dunkirk” is due in theaters on July 21, 2017, though it will begin screening in theaters with 70mm capabilities two days earlier.
