David Lynch appears in a new teaser for the 2017 limited series “Twin Peaks,” Showtime’s continuation of the television phenomenon that premiered in 1990. The show is currently in production, produced by series creators Lynch and Mark Frost. Lynch directs every episode of the new series.
Kyle MacLachlan reprises his role as Special Agent Dale Cooper in the show, joining Harry Goaz as Deputy Andy Brennan and Miguel Ferrer as Agent Albert Rosenfield, among others. Here’s the official synopsis:
“Twin Peaks” followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues…
Over the summer, Lynch’s 2001 film “Mulholland Drive” was voted the best film of the 21st century in a BBC poll, not long after claiming the number one spot on “Best of the Decade” polls from Film Comment, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA), Reverse Shot, and IndieWire.
