Donald Trump’s cabinet picks have been coming under more and more fire of late — this week he came close to literally fulfilling an “Idiocracy” prophecy by selecting Carl’s Jr. CEO Andy Puzder as Secretary of Labor — so of course “Saturday Night Live” took aim at the president-elect during last night’s cold open. In it, an unconventional (but at this point, not entirely surprising) pick for head of the DEA was revealed: Walter White, the meth kingpin played by Bryan Cranston on “Breaking Bad.”
Beck Bennett plays Jake Tapper in the sketch, with Kate McKinnon reprising her popular take on Kellyanne Conway. “It’s almost like Mr. Trump appoints these people specifically to undermine the very agencies they head,” says Tapper, hitting the nail on the head before bringing out Heisenberg himself. After removing his signature hat, White assures us he “knows the DEA better than anyone — inside and out.”
Asked about potential troubles with the confirmation process, Heisenberg admits the fact that he’s faked his own death might be his hindrance — after all, only two others in the incoming administration have done that. Watch the full video below.
