‘Baskets’ Star Louie Anderson Pleads for the Normalization of Clown Culture in New PSAs — Watch

A Proud Clown Parent shares some helpful tips in the wake of America's current clown obsession.

Baskets PSA FX Teaser

October is right around the corner, which means it’s officially clown season. Yes, Halloween hype brings pumpkin spice, actual pumpkins, and healthy pumpkin seed recipes. But in addition to the frothy goodness and unassuming flavor, Pennywise’s loyal followers begin to crop up on every street corner in the U.S.

Christine Baskets (the Emmy-winning Louie Anderson) wants to set the record straight — clowns are people, too. And most importantly, not all of them are dead set on frightening every man, woman, and child on the subway for seemingly no reason.

In order to “Honor Our Nation’s Clowns” (HONC), Christine serves her role as a Proud Clown Parent by hosting 30-second PSAs giving advice to other clown parents who write in. Can’t seem to keep a banana cream pie in the house without a mess and a crying child? “Keep it in the vegetable crisper,” Christine says. “No one ever looks in there.”

The critically acclaimed series “Baskets” was renewed for a third season in March, with the only clue of its release date being sometime in 2018. But for those missing the talented Zach Galifianakis playing twins Chip and Dale Baskets, these teasers offer up a few deserving laughs.

Season 2 ended on a fragile note, as Chip and Dale both struggle to find stability in their lives, but Christine’s storyline was looking up with a new romance. If these warm-hearted PSAs give any insight into the new season, it might mean some good news is heading for Anderson’s award-winning role.
