Martin Scorsese is Teaching an Online Filmmaking Course, and You Can Sign Up Now — Watch

Martin Scorsese is the latest artist to join MasterClass, which means aspiring filmmakers from around the world will now be able to learn directly from the best.

You’ve learned screenwriting from Aaron Sorkin and the art of comedy from Steve Martin, now MasterClass is inviting you to learn filmmaking from Martin Scorsese. That’s right, the iconic director will be teaching an online film course with over 20 installments in early 2018, and you can enroll right now by heading over to the MasterClass website.

Scorsese has offered up insights into his filmmaking process in interviews in the past, but the MasterClass online series is bound to be one of the most informative lessons in Scorsese’s outlook on directing. The Oscar winner is currently in production on “The Irishman” in New York City. According to MasterClass, the online program will feature Scorsese “sharing his insights into the history of film and filmmaking.”

“I was excited by this project because it gave me a chance to pass down my own inspirations and experiences and practices and evolutions, not as a blueprint for how to make movies but as a guidepost, an offering to young people attempting to find their own way,” Scorsese said in an official statment.” It was so important for me to have people that passed down their own knowledge when I was young, and MasterClass has given me an opportunity to try it myself.”

MasterClass has not given a specific date for the launch of Scorsese’s online course, but it will debut in early 2018. Watch the trailer below.
