“This Is Us” was the top-rated new series among 18-49 last year, but that may just be the beginning. As the fall 2017 season approaches, viewers have started catching up on (or re-watching) Season 1 of the hit NBC drama, according to this week’s Xfinity on Demand ranker.
“This Is Us” re-entered the chart at No. 20, even though the show has been off the air since March. Timing is key: Viewers aiming to catch up before the show’s Season 2 premiere only have two and a half weeks to get up to speed: “This Is Us” returns on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. ET. The show’s early return to the on-demand ranker may be a sign that a larger fanbase will be eager to keep up with “This Is Us” as it returns to a linear primetime schedule.
Other shows entering the ranker this week include A&E’s “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,” currently in its second season; TNT’s “Animal Kingdom,” which just ended its second season on Aug. 29; and USA’s “Shooter,” currently in its second season. Also, as USA’s “The Sinner” continues to grow in live and time-shifted ratings, on-demand catchup could be helping.
