Celebrities aren’t the only ones speaking out against Harvey Weinstein. Bob Weinstein, Harvey’s brother and the co-founder of Miramax and The Weinstein Company, is condemning his sibling’s alleged history of sexual harassment in new statements given exclusively to TMZ. Harvey has been the subject of bombshell reports from The New York Times and The New Yorker in which dozens of women have come forward alleging the studio executive of sexual harassment. Three women, including Asia Agrento, claim Harvey raped them.
“My brother Harvey is obviously a very sick man,” Bob said. “I’ve urged him to seek immediate professional help because he is in dire need of it. His remorse and apologies to the victims of his abuse are hollow. He said he would go away for help and has yet to do so.”
Bob is set to take over what’s left of the The Weinstein Company following Harvey’s firing. He founded the Miramax subdivision Dimension Films in 1992 so that the company could release genre and horror films. Sources have told TMZ that Harvey is convinced his brother leaked sexual harassment claims to The New York Times in an attempt to seize control of the company. Responding to these claims, Bob calls his brother a “world class liar.”
“He has proven himself to be a world class liar and now rather than seeking help he is looking to blame others,” Bob said. “His assertion is categorically untrue from A to Z. I pray he gets the help that he needs and I believe that it is him behind all of these stories to distract from his own failure to get help.”
Harvey is expected to sue the board of directors that fired him, which includes Bob.
