We can now officially add Haim to the list of Paul Thomas Anderson’s favorite collaborators, a roster that already includes cinematographer Robert Elswit and composer Jonny Greenwood. The filmmaker and the band shot three recording sessions for their second studio album “Something to Tell You” and released it as the 35mm short film “Valentine,” and now they have returned with a fourth video that brings Anderson back to his Fiona Apple/”Paper Bag” days.
The three-minute-and-thirty-second video finds Anderson and Haim throwing a disco-country party and features the kind of virtuoso tracking shots and camera spins that is bound to leave Anderson diehards overjoyed. The concept is relatively simple — the band takes part in a line dance — but the camerawork brings an infectious momentum that is impossible to deny.
“Little of Your Love” is the second single off the band’s new album, which was released in July. The music video is the latest new content from Anderson, who will cap off 2017 with his new feature. The still-untitled project (though sources say the long-rumored “Phantom Thread” is still the top contender) will mark the final performance from Day-Lewis and opens December 25 via Focus Features.
