‘Santa Clarita Diet’ Season 2 Trailer: Drew Barrymore is Eating People Again for Some Reason

Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant are back in Netflix's cannibal-adjacent comedy, back on March 23.

Santa Clarita Diet Season 2 Trailer

There are only so many places that a show can go once its main character has killed (and devoured large portions of) three people. For “Santa Clarita Diet,” the apparent directive was simple: more Hootie and the Blowfish.

Netflix released a sneak peek of Season 2 with a trailer that shows just how dire things have gotten for the Hammonds. As Sheila (Drew Barrymore) and Joel (Timothy Olyphant) deal with the fallout of the Season 1 scheme that saw them finding new ways to satisfy the former’s newfound appetite for human flesh, it’s fully engulfed their entire family. Just look at Abby not flinching at a disembodied head in their basement!

But aside from the cannibalistic turmoil inside their own house, the Hammonds now have to deal with a slew of new and returning faces. Natalie Morales is back as Anne Garcia, presumably hot on the trail of those particularly suspicious recent disappearances. The Hammond’s neighborhood gets an extra influx of funny with the arrival of a new realtor couple played by Joel McHale and Maggie Lawson. And in the middle of it all, an extra dose of Andy Richter, a welcome performer in any show, zombie or otherwise.

This all looks somewhat suspect, but maybe it was all worth it to hear Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant trade jovial readings of the phrase “kill room.”
