For more than a year now, the question of whether or not Glenn Howerton will return to “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has dominated discussion of the long-running comedy. Courtesy of Kaitlin Olson, who plays Dee on the irreverent FX series, it appears we now have an aswer: “I do know that Glenn Howerton is coming back for some episodes,” Olson told TheWrap yesterday. “I don’t know the specifics, but I do know how he’s being introduced back in, and it is absolutely hilarious.”
Howerton now stars in “AP Bio,” but he insists that new venture has nothing to do with whether he’ll resume his “It’s Always Sunny” duties. “Telling you whether or not Dennis is coming back would be giving away the plot of the next season,” Howerton wrote on Twitter in January. “So… to clarify once and for all. I don’t know if Dennis is coming back. He left the bar. We take that plot choice seriously.”
“I don’t know why the narrative continues to be centered around whether ‘I’m’ coming back. I’m here. It’s whether or not ‘Dennis’ is coming back. Dennis could be gone forever,” he added.
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has aired 134 episodes across its first 12 seasons. It has already been renewed for seasons 13 and 14.
