Reviews have dropped for “Sicario: Day of Soldado,” the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed drug war thriller, and they’re mostly positive — but the quality of the thriller, which reunites Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro, is a separate discussion from its timely themes. The movie couldn’t be more topical; then again, the first one was pretty timely, too. Which movie did a better job of nailing the zeitgeist? That’s one of the big topics of debate in this week’s Screen Talk, as Eric Kohn and Anne Thompson offer their differing takes on the film. They also touch on a scandal that rocked Sony Pictures Classics this week after an offensive tweet by Peter Fonda, changes at Pixar and the Academy, and what they think about “Incredibles 2.”
