Megan Amram greeted guests to her pop-up FYC event in Hollywood with a thank you and a warning:
“There’s no contingency plan for if the fire station tells us to get off their property.”
Such risks come with the territory for grassroots Emmy campaigns like Amram’s. Self-produced, self-released, and with fully self-funded FYC marketing, “An Emmy For Megan” is getting pushed by Amram any which way she can. Monday afternoon, that meant sitting kitty-corner from her new billboard and behind a red velvet rope, signing autographs for Emmy voters — well, fans she hoped were Emmy voters.
“I assume you’re all Emmy voters,” Amram said. “I don’t really care about normal people.”
Though IndieWire was unable to identify any official members of the TV Academy present, attendees started lining up on the corner of 3rd Street and Alta Vista Blvd — right outside the LAFD’s Station No. 51 — well before the event was scheduled to begin. The location was chosen because of its proximity to one of Amram’s two new FYC billboards, launched yesterday in time for Phase Two of Emmy voting.
“One of them says, ‘This time I got two billboards: one for each nomination,’ and the other one says, ‘My other billboard is at Santa Monica Blvd and Gower,'” Amram previously told IndieWire.

Amram distributed 200 lawn signs she made herself, signing the front and chatting with fans who came out to show their support. One made custom pins for Amram’s other series, “The Good Place,” which she gave to the writer. Another said he had been tracking her career (primarily through Twitter) since “Parks and Recreation.”
Fans showed up with a dream to support Amram’s dream of winning an Emmy, and they left with a lawn sign to support their shared cause.
“We also have flyers that say, ‘A Flyer for An Emmy For Megan,’ so if you guys want to take those flyers too, anything you can do means a lot,” Amram said to the line of people waiting to meet her. “As I said before, this win would be for all of you, but it’s also for me.”
Amram also recently announced she will be holding a special FYC screening of “An Emmy for Megan” on August 23 at the ArcLight Hollywood.
“An Emmy For Megan” is nominated for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. Check out our photo gallery of the event, and watch the web series on Vimeo.
