Whether in Neptune, New York, or somewhere else entirely, it looks like “Veronica Mars” is on its way back again. This time, Hulu is the intended destination for a miniseries that will continue the character’s story, with star Kristen Bell and writer/creator Rob Thomas returning in their respective roles.
Fans of “The Good Place” need not fear, though: According to reports, the plan is for Bell to be able to star in both projects as the production plans are being straightened out.
Rumblings of a new chapter in the “Veronica Mars” saga have never fully died down, even after the 2014 movie that picked up where the series left off. Last fall, cub reporter Ryan Hansen broke the news in an IndieWire Facebook Live conversation that a miniseries was in the works.
Tuesday’s news did not come with any additional casting decisions, though the film (co-written by Thomas and Diane Ruggiero) did bring back several members of the ensemble from the TV series. In addition to Bell and Hansen, those making return trips included Jason Dohring, Francis Capra, Chris Lowell, and Enrico Colantoni. The three TV seasons, which ran from 2004-2007 on UPN and The CW, are not currently available for on-demand streaming on Hulu or any of their competing platforms.
