‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ Official Trailer: Ryan Murphy Unleashes the End of Days in Crazy New Footage

A world-ending event leaves a group confined to a radiation-proof safe house in Ryan Murphy's anthology horror series.

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s mega-hit anthology horror series “American Horror Story” returns for its eighth season this fall, and this time its taking on a trope more often seen in science fiction: The end of the world. FX released the official trailer for “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” Wednesday, and while it is light on plot details, it includes a sneak peak at the show’s heavy-hitting cast in their brand new roles.

Set after an apocalyptic event that leaves the air outside radioactive, Murphy previously described “Apocalypse” as a “crossover” between “Murder House” and “Coven,” the first and third seasons. Though she does not appear in the trailer, Jessica Lange will return this season. The two-time Oscar winner and three-time Emmy winner co-starred in Murphy’s limited series “Feud” in 2017, but hasn’t been in “AHS” since Season 4 (2015’s “Freak Show”).

Other returning cast members include Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Billy Eichner, Lily Rabe, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, and Emma Roberts. The series, which has already been renewed for Season 9, was picked up for a tenth season in August. Season 8 will premiere September 12 on FX.
