Claire Foy is unstoppable this fall. In addition to earning her second Emmy nomination for lead actress in a drama thanks to her Netflix royal drama “The Crown,” Foy is starring in two of the fall season’s most anticipated titles: “First Man” and “The Girl in the Spider’s Web.” The latter finds the actress taking over a role made famous in the U.S. by Rooney Mara.
“The Girl in the Spider’s Web” is based on David Lagercrantz’s book of the same name. The story centers around Lisbeth Salander, the infamous hacker played by Mara in David Fincher’s “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” as she once again teams up with journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Sverrir Gudnason) and takes on a case that brings her in direct contact with her violent past.
While the chance to see Foy completely reinvent herself on the big screen as Salander makes “Spider’s Web” a must-see fall movie title, so does the involvement of director Fede Alvarez. The filmmaker has made a name for himself on the horror circuit with beloved films like “Evil Dead” and “Don’t Breathe.”
Sony will open “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” in theaters November 9. Watch the official trailer below.
