‘Homeland,’ ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Game Change’ Lead 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards
The winners of the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced, with “Homeland,” “Modern Family” and “Game Change” dominating the drama, comedy and TV movie/miniseries categories, respectively. Each won the top prize in their section, as well as multiple others in acting, writing and directing.
Overall, the awards were a mostly predictable affair, with the exception of the big win for “Homeland,” which ended the streak of “Mad Men.” That series went into the night with the most nominations, but went home empty handed (going 0 for 17). It had won the best dramatic series award the previous four years in a row.
Other major winners included “The Daily Show” (winning its whopping 10th consecutive award for best variety, music or comedy series) and “The Amazing Race” (winning its 8th award in the best reality series category), collectively suggesting Emmy voters more or less send in the same ballot every year.
