Oscar Shortlist: 10 Animated Shorts Will Vie Five Slots (VIDEO)
Members of the Short Films and Feature Animation Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have picked 10 animated short films to advance in the voting process for the 88th Academy Awards. They viewed all 60 eligible entries for the preliminary round of voting.

Short Films and Feature Animation Branch members will now select five nominees from among the 10 titles on the shortlist. Branch screenings will be held in Los Angeles, London, New York and San Francisco in December.

If both Pixar’s “Inside Out” and “The Good Dinosaur” land Oscar nominations in the feature category, and “Sanjay’s Super Team” is included in the final five for animated shorts, that will mark three Pixar nominations in one year. “Inside Out” may also land other nominations as well, so this could be a record-setting awards season for the Disney label run by Disney animation czar John Lasseter.
