“The Shape of Water” has won the Oscar for Best Picture. The win is one of numerous prizes the movie picked up at the 90th Academy Awards, including the Best Director trophy for Guillermo del Toro. “The Shape of Water” won the Oscars’ biggest prize over fellow nominees “Get Out,” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “Dunkirk,” “Lady Bird,” “Darkest Hour,” “Phantom Thread,” “Call Me By Your Name,” and “The Post.”
This year’s Best Picture race was widely considered to be one of the closest in recent history. “The Shape of Water” was one of three major frontrunners along with “Get Out” and “Three Billboards,” with nominees like “Dunkirk” and “Lady Bird” not so far behind.
Best Picture was one of 13 Oscars “The Shape of Water” received this year, making it the most nominated movie of the year. The film also won Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Production Design.
