Though we are months out from the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, the Television Academy already has set the most important dates leading up to TV’s highest honors.
While FYC events are already underway, the ball really starts rolling on May 9, when programs must solidify what categories they will be in contention for. In addition to having premiered between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023, TV Academy rules now dictate the series must have the full season presented on a national platform as well, eliminating what was known as the hanging episode rule.
Once the 2022-2023 television season officially ends on May 31, there will be two more weeks of campaigning, and then voters will have from Thursday, June 15 till Monday, June 26 to vote for what they think should be nominated for the Primetime Emmys categories.
Nominations are not announced until July 12, giving everyone involved in the Emmys machine about a two-week break. After they are announced, though, the nominated parties have until July 26 to report any errors or omissions to the TV Academy for it to fix.
August will be the prime month for Emmys campaigning, with August 7 being the day voters can view videos that nominees have posted exhibiting their craft. Ten days after, on Thursday, August 17, the final round of voting begins. TV Academy members will have till the end of the day on Monday, August 28 to make their final choices for what artists and shows should win each category.
Finally, the 2023 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10 will be where most of the awards get handed out, with an edited telecast of the event set to air on FXX at a later date. Happening a little later than usual are the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, which air live on FOX this year.
All dates remain subject to change. Read our predictions for all categories here.
