Logline: “Marrying Kinds” is a female-driven feature film that follows romantic but realistic Riley and Alex as they navigate their way through the horrors of spending one weekend at three weddings.
Elevator Pitch:
Riley and Alex have been together for five years. They live together, they have pets together, they’re happy! For two laid back people who love their life as is, the ideas of marriage, children, or the future in general just haven’t come up. But when they must attend three weddings in one weekend, their relationship is suddenly the topic of every conversation. Riley tries to hide her panic, but Alex knows her too well not to notice.
“Marrying Kinds” is an offbeat, modern take on the rom-com that explores what romance means in the world of social media pressures.

About the Film:
The idea behind this film is inspired by Nicole Groton’s long-term relationship with her boyfriend. Happy in her relationship, just not concerned with the idea of marriage, Groton found herself thrust into the “wedding age” and forced to answer a lot of relationship questions from everyone around her…especially strangers. The experience inspired Groton to write this script about her experiences in hopes to shine light on this often overlooked perspective.
One of the most exciting things about the project is their mission to tell a female-driven story, created by a primarily female crew.
