Here’s your daily dose of an indie film, web series, TV pilot, what-have-you in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.
In the meantime: Is this a project you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.
Logline: “Dr. Seeds” is an unhinged comedic series about a non-licensed psychiatrist changing lives on the subways of NYC.
Elevator Pitch:
An unlicensed psychiatrist with a complex backstory, “Dr. Seeds” rides the D train in NYC and gives unsolicited advice to passengers she’s trying to help. She has so much more to do; so many people to “help,” an assistant to hire, a practice to expand, and arch-nemesis to defeat… all beneath the bustling city above.
Production Team:
Sarah Seeds – Writer/Creator/”Dr. Seeds” – Sarah can be seen in the comedy series ‘Wildcats’ (a past “Project of the Day” here on IndieWire!), directed by Rachel Puchkoff.
Lindsay-Elizabeth Hand – Producer (Edge in Motion Productions, “Rebecca The Pregnant Lady”)
Michelle Cutolo – Director
David Russo – Executive Producer (“Infiniti Features”)
T Zhang – Line Producer
About the Film:
The New York City MTA/Subway system is a strange, mysterious place that is rarely explored in Film & TV today. It’s a whole other world below the ground, and we’ve all had strange experiences while riding the train.
We’re proud to have not only a female creator, but also feature women in front of the camera, behind the camera, and above the line. Women can be funny. In fact, women can be aggressively funny. We’re interested in weird, ballsy comedy that everyone finds hilarious, not typical girl-centric humor about OKCupid and bad roommates. (Although some of that stuff is hilarious!)
Current Status: Fundraising and In Production.
