Speedy

Tweetable Logline: A growing teen struggles with change while raised rent pushes his father and the deli he owns out of business.

Elevator Pitch: “Speedy” is a short film about a father and son relationship surrounding a deli. When Speedy finds out that his father can no longer afford to keep the store, he tries to cope by indulging in the lifestyle him and his friends grew up with. He is distraught by the change surrounding him and his home which tears him between the decision to hold his ground or continue on to a higher education, in order to change himself.

Production Team:
Writer/Director: Ameer Kazmi

Producer: Michael Brogan
Assistant Director: Liam Christoffers

About the Film: I was lucky enough to be born and raised in the most diverse place in the world: Queens, New York. Many people are presented with a façade of what this city is all about. Change rapidly swallowing this city over the years has paved a way for a new breed of working class minds who go unheard. It’s this side of New York that people need to witness and these voices that can make a difference. By making this film, I’m taking my first step towards creating a voice for millions of people like me, whose stories will go unnoticed.
