The Davey Foundation Introduces Short Film Grant In Memory of David Ross Fetzer

A year after the death of beloved Salt Lake City actor David Ross Fetzer, friends and family of the “Must Come Down” star will make sure that he continues to live on through The Davey Foundation, a non-profit organization that commemorates the actor through financial grants used to helping independent filmmakers and artists as Fetzer had always wished.

The grant consists of $3,500 to a U.S. filmmaker 35 or under, designed to encourage the winning filmmaker to produce a short film. Next year the foundation plans to double the number of grants and increase the amount, while also beginning a mentorship program.

Filmmaker Dustin Defa, a board member of the Davey Foundation, said, “David was a big collaborator of mine, always the first person to read my scripts and give feedback, he starred in one of my early short films, and he was the AD on ‘Bad Fever.'” Fetzer’s help in the art of independent filmmaking will now be appreciated by many filmmakers to come.
