What is dead may never die. “Six Feet Under” creator Alan Ball has received a series order for a new family drama by HBO, where he also served as an executive producer on “True Blood.” No title or casting announcements have been made yet.
Deadline, who first reported the news, also has a synopsis: “The untitled series focuses on a contemporary multi-racial family: a philosophy professor, his lawyer wife, their three adopted children from Somalia, Vietnam and Colombia, and their sole biological child. This seemingly perfect, progressive family is in actuality harboring deep rifts. Then, one of the children begins to see things others cannot. Is it mental illness? Or something else? The series is a tragicomic meditation on the complicated forces at work on us all in America today.”
In addition to his extensive work for HBO — “True Blood” ran for seven seasons, “Six Feet Under” for five — Ball also executive-produced Cinemax’s “Banshee” and won the Academy Award for his “American Beauty” screenplay.
