Esther Povitsky and Benji Afalo are set to star as in the half-hour pilot, which concerns their two characters’ platonic friendship as they go about their daily lives in Los Angeles; they’ll also write and co-executive produce alongside Eben Russell. “This is a fiercely funny look at young adults who are unapologetically themselves while blazing their own paths, which fits nicely into the tradition already set by our current slate,” said Karey Burke, Freeform’s executive vice president of programming and development.
Schaffer, Samberg and Taccone have been friends since junior high. All three were hired as writers on “Saturday Night Live” in 2005 (with Samberg also landing an acting role, of course) and, prior to “Popstar,” collaborated on 2007’s “Hot Rod.”
