Arcade Fire Sells Its Soul to Toni Collette in ‘Money + Love’ Music Video — Watch

Arcade Fire isn’t finished with the Everything Now Corporation. The band has released a new music video featuring the songs “Put Your Money on Me” and “We Don’t Deserve Love,” both off of the 2017 album “Everything Now.” The video — which is called “Money + Love” — stars Toni Collette as a corporate stooge, and it all kicks off when she tells the band that it is bankrupt and needs to enter a contract with Everything Now in order to stay afloat. “Of course, there will be a few small bits of product placement,” she says ominously at the beginning.

The rest of the video follows the Arcade Fire members selling their souls to corporate America, which is a process that apparently includes everything from branding cereal boxes to signing contracts on top of cash-filled coffins. The group eventually tries to take the money and escape, but that plan doesn’t go down all that smoothly. We see the less-than-ideal results in the second half of the video when the more melancholy “We Don’t Deserve Love” begins to play.

“Money + Love” continues the theme of the marketing campaign for the album, which consisted of heavy corporate satire and fake publicity stunts organized by the band. Arcade Fire eventually apologized for the campaign several weeks after the release of the album.
