Arnold Schwarzenegger To Produce TV Series ‘Pump’ Inspired By His Bodybuilding Days
Before Arnold Schwarzenegger was an action star or the Governor of California, he was pumping iron on Venice Beach with a small group of pals who later became competitive bodybuilders and created an entire fitness industry.
Now, Deadline reports that these formative years will now be the inspiration for the upcoming TV series “Pump,” an eight-episode hour-long drama produced by Schwarzenegger in conjunction with The Tannenbaum Company and CBS Television Studios. The series’ showrunner will be Bryan Goluboff, who has previously worked on “Blue Bloods,” “Smash,” and “Law & Order: SVU.”

The former California Governor said that he knew “Pump” would be a hit from the very beginning. “The 70’s were such a colorful, transformational time, for me and for our entire country,” Schwarzenegger says. “I look forward to bringing that color to people’s living rooms with the fantastic, deep characters and the multi-layered story lines of Pump. I feel so passionate about this project because today it’s easy to take our gyms and culture of fitness for granted, but it all started with this wild group of bodybuilders as a tiny subculture in a little dungeon gym in Venice Beach.”
Schwarzenegger is best known for his successful acting career. Some of his most popular films include “Conan the Barbarian,” “The Terminator,” “Commando,” “Predator,” “Total Recall,” and “True Lies.” He served as the Governor of California from 2003 through 2011.
