Owen Wilson and Ed Helms currently have busy slates from now through the next year. Wilson will co-star in the upcoming heist comedy “Masterminds” due out at the end of September and Helms is currently filming “The One Percent,” a TV series created and written by Alejandro González Iñárritu and the team behind “Birdman.” But the two of them are teaming up for a new comedy out next year about two brothers who discover that they’re father, previously thought to be dead, is actually alive and in the country somewhere. The film also stars Glenn Close (“Fatal Attraction”), J.K. Simmons (“Whiplash”), Ving Rhames (“Pulp Fiction”), Katie Aselton (“The League”), Katt Williams (“The Boondocks”), and more. The film is the directorial debut of Lawrence Sher, who has previously served as the cinematographer on numerous successful comedies, like “The Hangover” trilogy,” “I Love You, Man,” and most recently, “War Dogs.” It’s produced by Ivan Reitman, the director of such classic comedies like “Stripes” and “Ghostbusters.”
Meanwhile, Owen Wilson has co-starred in comedies like “Zoolander,” “Wedding Crashers,” and “Shanghai Noon.” He was nominated for an Oscar for co-writing Wes Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums” and was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in Woody Allen’s “Midnight In Paris.” Helms is best known for his work on “The Daily Show,” the long-running sitcom “The Office,” and “The Hangover” series.
“Bastards” will be released in theaters on January 27th, 2017 from Warner Bros. Pictures.
