‘Deadly Class’: Russo Brothers Developing Series Based On Rick Remender’s Comic Books

Joe and Anthony Russo are continuing their legacy with another comic book adaptation. Deadline reports that the Russo brothers are teaming up with writer Rick Remender to create a TV series based on his comic book “Deadly Class.”

Remender and Miles Feld will pen the television adaptation, which will be set in the late ‘80s counter culture. The story follows a disillusioned teen recruited into a high school for assassins. During his time there, he will try to maintain his moral code, navigate a ruthless curriculum, deal with vicious social cliques and own personal insecurities.

The writers, along with the Russo brothers will executive produce alongside Adam Targum, who will serve as showrunner, and president of Russo’s Getaway Prods, Mike Larroca. Sony Pictures will pitch the idea to various cable networks and streaming services.

“Deadly Class” is one of Remender’s best known projects. The veteran comic book scribe has also written for Marvel Comics’ “Uncanny Avengers” and “Venom” and has co-created/written comics such as “Strange Girl,” “Fear Agent” and “LOW.”

The Russos recently released the critically acclaimed “Captain America: Civil War” and will next be helming “Avengers: Infinity War.” They will also be adapting Walter Hill’s 1979 cult classic, “The Warriors,” for Paramount and Hulu.
