FX and Sacha Baron Cohen have made a deal to bring “Ali G: Rezurection” to comedy spin-off channel FXX in February. Despite the title, this doesn’t mean there will be new episodes of the bitingly satirical series that introduced Baron Cohen and three of his distinctive characters to the world.

Instead, FXX will be airing the existing 18 episodes of the show, including the 2003-2004 HBO season and the 2000 Channel 4 season that preceded it and that has never aired in the U.S. FXX will also air all the Ali G segments from “The 11 O’clock Show,” on which the character first appeared before being spun off onto his own program.

Baron Cohen will provide new introductions for each episode, but, more interestingly, his production company Four By Two has just signed a first-look TV deal with FX.

“We’re thrilled to be in business with Sacha Baron Cohen,” said FX’s Nick Grad, “He is an amazing talent and we look forward to him developing new series for FXP. We’re also excited to introduce ‘Da Ali G Show’ and Sacha’s characters to a new audience on FXX, and we can’t wait to see how he will incorporate new, original content in the episodes.”

In addition to the title character, “Da Ali G Show” is where Baron Cohen first introduced Borat Sagdiyev and Brüno Gehard. All three have been the center of films, though unlike “Borat” and “Brüno,” 2002’s “Ali G Indahouse” is a more traditional scripted comedy and less of a kamikaze improvisational experience.
