George R.R. Martin has some thoughts on the recent Emmy nominations. While he’s super thrilled with the news of “Game of Thrones” topping the list with 23 noms, he thinks some contenders got snubbed, especially one certain Starz series.
“‘Outlander was robbed,” the author wrote to a fan on his LiveJournal comments section. “All three leads were amazing … especially Tobias Menzies in his double role as Frank and Black Jack.” The drama receive two nomination for costume and production design.
“Eva Green also deserved a nomination for her work in ‘Penny Dreadful,’” he added. “Of course, every year has omissions. And right now it is harder than it has ever been. So many great, great shows to watch.”
As for his “GOT” Emmy nominations, he was especially pleased that Kit Harington and Maisie Williams were finally recognized. “I am thrilled and happy for all our nominees, of course… but it made me especially happy to see Kit and Maisie get some love from the Academy at last,” he wrote. “About damn time, I say. They are several years overdue.”
Though, if he could add one more cast member to the list it would’ve been Sophie Turner, “I would have loved to see Sophie Turner on that list as well. I know, I know, I’m greedy,” Martin joked.
