Keegan-Michael Key Is Hilarious as the GOP’s African-American Delegate on the ‘Late Show’ — Watch
Presidential candidate Donald Trump faces an uphill battle when it comes to minority support in the upcoming election. Recent polls show that Trump performs dreadfully amongst black voters, garnering a whopping zero percent vote.
Though Trump has tried to remedy this situation by hiring Omarosa Manigault, a former contestant on Trump’s reality TV show “The Apprentice,” as the campaign’s new director of African-American outreach, the GOP’s lack of diversity is a reliable source of comedy for late-night hosts, stand-ups, and comedians of all stripes.
Case in point: On last night’s “Late Show,” host Stephen Colbert spoke with the Republican National Convention’s only African-American delegate Frank Walters, played by actor Keegan-Michael Key, one half of comedy duo Key & Peele. Watch the video below.
The enthusiastic but gullible Walters tells Stephen that he’s having a great time at the convention. “Chris Christie burned a witch earlier!” he continues. “Ben Carson was just juggling brains! I didn’t know it was going to be this entertaining!” He went on to say that he was surprised at how popular he was during the event. “People keep coming up to me and saying, ‘Thank God, you’re here!’ and they keep on saying, ‘You’re one of the good ones! You’re articulate! You’re bright!’ I mean, the compliments just keep on rolling in, Stephen.” Eventually, Frank reveals that he only arrived at the convention because he was playing Pokemon Go, before grabbing the unwanted attention of a police officer.
Keegan-Michael Key stars in the new film “Don’t Think Twice,” which opens in New York on July 22nd, in Los Angeles & Chicago on July 29th, and opens wide in August.
