Yes, there’s a new “Leprechaun” movie, and yes, you’ll probably watch it if you’re ever channel surfing and see that it’s on. Syfy is reviving the tongue-in-cheek horror franchise with “Leprechaun Returns,” the eighth movie in the series and the first since’s 2014’s “Leprechaun: Origins.” That reboot was preceded by such revered entries as “Leprechaun 4: In Space” and “Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood,” which is to say that “Returns” has a lot to live up to. Watch the teaser trailer below.
“I’ve been gone quite a while, what a terrible bore,” the Leprechaun says as it begins. “My fingers are itching, I’m killing for more; why, let’s try our luck and bet on me gold. “If it lands on tails, I’ll do as me told; but heads? I’ll start a new killing spree.”
“What a lovely surprise,” he says as it lands on heads. “Shall we try best two out of three?”
Linden Porco is playing the Leprechaun this time around; the folkloric villain was portrayed by Warwick Davis in the first six films. Taylor Spreitler, Pepi Sonuga, Sai Bennett, and Mark Holton co-star in the film, which was written by Suzanne Keilly and directed by Steven Kostanski. “Leprechaun Returns” comes to Syfy sometime next year.
