Everyone wants to watch a scary movie until they’re actually watching one. Forbes has a list of 10 movies that Netflix says many users find too scary to finish, from recent favorites (“Raw”) to infamous gross-outs (“The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence”), as well as the underlying methodology: Only movies that viewers made it most of the way through were included. To distinguish between movies that people turned off because they were too scary and those that viewers simply didn’t like, Netflix only included films that users watched 70% of — “if most people truly hate a movie,” their logic goes, “they’ll turn it off well before that.” Even so, the highly negative reception of films like “The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence” and the “Cabin Fever” remake suggest that some people may have just been too bored or disgusted to continue.
