This week, The Hollywood Reporter took a lot of heat for its all-white cover of actresses in this year’s Oscar race. But was that the fault of the magazine or the industry? In this week’s Screen Talk, co-hosts Eric Kohn and Anne Thompson discuss the controversy surrounding that cover and how it speaks to larger issues. Additionally, Thompson shares her experiences at the Academy’s Governors Awards, where she hobnobbed with Will Smith, Spike Lee and many others.
The duo also look ahead to a couple of big fall movies that haven’t screened yet, and a few that did only recently: “The Big Short” and “Creed.” Plus: Thompson shares memories from working on the first “Rocky.”
