“South Park” is going all out in celebrating its 20th anniversary, and that includes offending some people. Their 20th season kicked off on September 14 and to celebrate the milestone, Comedy Central placed various mobile billboards around seven locations around the country which depict famous scenes from various episode with the tagline “We’ve been there.”
Though Comedy Central’s marketing head Walter Levitt told The Hollywood Reporter that representatives for three locations, the Church of Scientology, the White House and the Lincoln Memorial, were not pleased with the ads.
“We knew it was risky,” Levitt stated. “We knew some locations might not be pleased to have us out there, but we thought this is a perfect way to celebrate everything the series has covered in its 19 seasons.”

The Scientology truck featured a scene from the infamous 2005 episode “Trapped in the Closet” and the truck placed in front of the White House included President Barack and Michelle Obama. Other locations include the Trump Tower and Hillary Clinton’s N.Y. headquarters (as seen in the tweet posted by “South Park” below), KFC, Whole Foods, the Canadian Border in Buffalo and the Facebook headquarters in Silicon Valley.
“In some cases, the locals were not pleased to have us outside their locations and asked us to leave, but that was all expected, and we completely understand why,” Levitt added. Other locations, are just a source for a good laugh.
