The Sony-owned streaming service Crackle has had some recent success in original programming. Their main series, Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” has run for four years and over 53 episodes. Their original drama series “The Art of More” had a successful debut season last year and will return in late fall. Now, Crackle is ready to premiere their upcoming crime drama “StartUp,” about a trio of misfits, their promising tech startup funded by drug money, and the FBI agent who will stop at nothing to take them down, even if it means getting his hands dirty.
In the series, Nick Talman (Adam Brody), an intelligent banker, stashes his irresponsible father’s ill-gotten gains after he goes missing. Instead of turning it over to the authorities, he invests it in a tech company pitched by Izzy Morales (Otmara Marrero), a computer whiz with brilliant ideas about how to change the world. Suddenly, Ronald Dacey (Edi Gathegi), the second-in-command in a local Haitian gang, searches for the money he left with Nick’s father only to find out its new location. The three of them form an unlikely partnership in the hopes to make it big, and all the while FBI agent Phil Rask (Martin Freeman) is hot on their trail. Check out the series’ extended trailer below as well as a brand new poster.
“StartUp” will premiere on September 6th exclusively on Crackle.
