‘The Crown’ Featurette: A Peek Behind the Curtain of Netflix’s Most Ambitious Series Yet

All episodes are available to stream on November 5.

The Crown” might be Netflix’s most ambitious undertaking yet. The upcoming series about Queen Elizabeth II is said to have cost $156 million to produce and, if the streaming giant has its way, will apparently last six seasons and detail several different periods of its subject’s life. With the first of these less than a month away, Netflix has released a new featurette. Watch it below.

Claire Foy discusses playing the monarch, who first took on her royal duty in 1952, with other members of the cast and crew discussing the ambitious project as well: director Stephen Daldry, John Lithgow (who plays Winston Churchill), Matt Smith (Prince Philip) and series creator Peter Morgan, among others. “Becoming queen at such a vulnerable age brings a set of responsibilities which then makes the subsequent conducting of a marriage or any family relationships incredibly difficults,” says Morgan of the Queen’s main conflict as the series begins.

Season one of “The Crown” will consist of 10 hourlong episodes, all of which will be available to stream on November 4.
