“The Shining” is one of a select few films worthy of being called the scariest ever made, not that Stephen King would agree — the author has famously referred to Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of his novel as the work of a man who “thinks too much and feels too little.” He’s firmly in the minority, however, and among those in the bag for “The Shining” are the folks at BFI, who are re-releasing the 1980 masterwork in UK theaters next month. All the familiar beats are hit: “redrum,” Room 237, the twins. Excitingly for those in the UK, BFI is releasing the 144-minute version, which runs a full 24 minutes longer than the version previously released in Europe. Full list of dates below:
