Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to Compose Score for 'Patriots Day'

Peter Berg appears to have found his niche. After “Lone Survivor” and this week’s “Deepwater Horizon,” the filmmaker is about to complete his based-on-fact trifecta with “Patriots Day,” a dramatization of the Boston Marathon bombings. According to Berg’s Instagram, he’s found the film’s composers: Trent Reznor Atticus Ross.

He announced the news yesterday with a blurry photo and appreciative caption: “I couldn’t be more honored than to be working with these two straight up genius artists. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Bringing their deep soul and fury to @patriotsdayfilm @treznor.” Reznor and Ross won an Oscar for composing the score to David Fincher’s “The Social Network,” later collaborating with the filmmaker again on “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “Gone Girl.”

Mark Wahlberg, who also starred in “Lone Survivor” and “Deepwater Horizon,” will appear in the film alongside Melissa Benoist, Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, John Goodman and Kevin Bacon. “Patriots Day” is set to be released on January 13, 2017.
