Watch: Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner are Uncensored, Hilarious and ‘Difficult People’ in Hulu Series’ First Trailer
Hulu is getting ready to roll out some high profile new shows, including Jason Katims’ “The Way” (starring Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan), Jason Reitman’s “Casual” (with Eliza Coupe and Francis Conroy), and the Stephen King/J.J. Abrams/James Franco collaboration “11/22/63.” But before those original series attempt to rebrand the streaming service by offering up big name talent, two smaller names have an under-the-radar offering that looks to be just as much of a “must watch” as these heavy-hitting dramas.

Billy Eichner (who most people know as Craig from “Parks and Recreation” or the loud man who roams the boulevards of New York in “Billy on the Street”) and Julie Klausner (most recently seen as Donna on the now-canceled Fox series “Mulaney” but better known as the host of her podcast, “How Was Your Week?”) have joined forces for “Difficult People,” a new comedy in which the two comedians play “less successful versions of themselves.” Sure, they’ve got an A-list TV producer behind them in Amy Poehler, but the trailer above makes the show look like something very much the voice of its stars.
The minute-long trailer showcases the beauty of such a simple premise when executed by two sharp-witted talents like these. Taking jabs at passers-by, customers and everyone within earshot, the duo bonds over their mutual frustrations with the ignorance all around them. Among those causing our leads such turmoil are some famous faces, including Kate McKinnon, Martin Short, Amy Sedaris and Fred Armison. “Difficult People” may not be generating the same level of buzz as Hulu’s other upcoming originals, but that doesn’t mean much compared to what we’ve actually seen.
