Patton Oswalt is a committed fan. Be it “Star Wars,” independent film, or — as illustrated in the brilliant video clip below — “True Detective.” Oswalt has been chiming in on the HBO show since the beginning, offering up helpful clues as well as his (a)typical hilarious commentary on what he saw as a brilliant first season. Now he’s recreated Matthew McConaughey’s interrogation scene from the show, complete with a “Big Hug Mug,” cigarettes, and crushed Lone Star cans to promote his upcoming special on Comedy Central, “Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time.”
