‘You Were Never Really Here’: Jonny Greenwood Mixes ‘The Master’ and ‘Under the Skin’ in Lynne Ramsay Score — Listen

It’s a great time for Jonny Greenwood fans. Fresh off an Oscar nomination for his acclaimed original score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Phantom Thread,” the Radiohead genius is already back with a new must-listen film soundtrack. Greenwood’s “You Were Never Really Here” original score is now streaming. The soundtrack marks the second time he has collaborated with director Lynne Ramsay following “We Need to Talk About Kevin.”

Greenwood’s “You Were Never Really Here” score is easily his most experimental and eclectic film music to date. The track “Sandy’s Necklace” feels like it would fit right at home in a David Lynch movie, while “Nausea” finds Greenwood channeling his inner Cliff Martinez. Tracks like “Hammer and Tape” echo the discordant percussions of Greenwood’s “The Master” soundtrack. “YWNRH” recalls the powerful strings of “There Will Be Blood” mixed with the unrelenting tension of Mica Levi’s “Under the Skin” score.

“You Were Never Really Here,” starring Joaquin Phoenix, doesn’t open in U.S. theaters until April 6.
